After all the rigmarole of flying, waiting for luggage and waiting for your transfer to arrive, there is no better feeling to when you finally arrive into Benidorm. The moment that warmth hits you after leaving the Airport is great.
The drive from Alicante is pretty good too though, some lovely scenery and beautiful views but the moment you crawl into resort (literally due to traffic and pedestrians) and see all the familiar sights and sounds, the bars and clubs, the restaurants, the beach and everything else that makes it such a great holiday, that is the moment when the holiday truly begins.
In terms of the new airport, I have mixed feelings. I liked walking out the old airport to the bus stances and feeling the heat and seeing the temperature on the clock/temp signs. The new airport has the bus stances located below ground level (I think) and so you don't get the full benefit. On the way home though, the new airport is much, much better.
ReplyDeleteThere are some very, very nice houses on the way to Benidorm (need to try and remember and have my camera next time) and lots of old abandoned places as well. The long tunnel is probably the biggest "feature" on the way there but, for me, I'm always looking for mountain with the whole cut out or the Hotel Gran Bali. Both these sights let you know that a nice cold estrella is only minutes away (assuming you're not last off the bus, lol).
