Reason 33 - Benidorm Market

One of the things I love about exploring Benidorm is finding those little gems that mix local culture with a bit of cheeky fun, and Benidorm Municipal Market is exactly that. Whether we’re picking up fresh ingredients for a meal, browsing through unique souvenirs, or laughing at some of the more “questionable” designer knock-offs, this market has something for everyone.

Fresh Produce and Local Delights

Whenever we visit, my wife and I always make a beeline for the fresh food stalls. There’s something special about seeing piles of juicy oranges, perfectly ripe tomatoes, and fragrant herbs, all sourced from local growers. The selection of cured meats and cheeses is incredible too—I can never resist picking up some jamón ibérico and a wedge of manchego to snack on later.

The boys love the market’s bakeries, where we grab freshly made pastries and churros to keep them going while we explore. And if we’re in the mood for something quick, there are a few fantastic spots selling fresh tapas and seafood, perfect for a midday bite.

Hunting for Hidden Treasures

Beyond the food, the market is packed with stalls selling clothes, accessories, home goods, and souvenirs. Some of the handmade crafts and leather goods are genuinely great finds, but it’s always entertaining to spot the abundance of “genuine designer brands” at suspiciously low prices. If you’ve ever wanted a "Louis Button" bag or a pair of "Adiboss" trainers, this is the place to get them!

That said, haggling is half the fun—whether you're buying a new pair of sunglasses or just playing along for the experience, you might walk away with a bargain (or at least a funny story to tell).

A Lively and Fun Experience

What makes Benidorm Municipal Market a must-visit is the atmosphere. It’s bustling, colorful, and full of character, making it a great way to spend a morning. Whether we’re stocking up on local goodies, people-watching, or just having a laugh at some of the more “creative” fashion labels, we always leave with something—whether it’s a bag of fresh fruit or a “Guccy” wallet!

If you’re visiting Benidorm and want a taste of local life (with a side of bargain hunting), this market is well worth a visit. Just don’t be surprised if that "designer" watch stops ticking before you get home!
