Reason 37 - The Red Lion

When it comes to big nights out in Benidorm, you really can’t beat The Red Lion. Right in the heart of the New Town, it’s loud, lively, and absolutely packed with energy — the kind of place where the night just seems to fly by in a blur of music, dancing, and ice-cold drinks.

It’s one of those pubs that always draws a crowd, and I completely get why. The entertainment’s top notch — live singers, banging tunes, a bit of karaoke, and that electric party atmosphere that only Benidorm seems to pull off so perfectly. I’ve been coming here for years, and it’s never been anything less than brilliant.

One night that stands out for me was when I ended up on the karaoke after one too many pints. I didn’t plan on it (who ever does?), but next thing I knew, I was up on stage belting out Sweet Caroline with a group of total strangers — and somehow, the whole place was singing along. My wife couldn’t stop laughing, and even the boys were cheering me on from the sidelines like I was on The X Factor. Absolutely daft, but one of those holiday memories that sticks with you.

What’s great about The Red Lion is that it’s not just for the hardcore party crowd — you’ll see families, couples, and big groups all mixing together, everyone just there for a good time. The drinks are cheap, the staff are friendly, and the vibe is always upbeat.

We usually pop in after dinner for a drink or two, and more often than not, we end up staying until well past bedtime. The boys love the music, my wife enjoys the dancing, and I’m more than happy with a cold pint and a bit of people-watching (especially the brave souls throwing shapes on the dance floor!).

If you’re in Benidorm and fancy a proper night out with no messing about, The Red Lion delivers every time. It’s not posh, it’s not fancy — it’s just good, honest fun. And that’s exactly why we keep going back.
