Benidorm is famous for its vibrant nightlife, stunning beaches, and endless entertainment, but one place that stands out as a true gem is the Balcón del Mediterráneo. This iconic viewpoint is more than just a spot for taking great photos—it's a place where history, beauty, and serenity converge to offer one of the most unforgettable experiences in the city. Let me tell you why this place has become a personal favorite of mine and why I make it a point to visit every time I'm in Benidorm.

The experience begins as you make your way through Benidorm’s charming old town, also known as El Casco Antiguo. This area is a delightful contrast to the modern, high-rise skyline that Benidorm is often associated with. The narrow, cobbled streets are lined with traditional Spanish buildings, vibrant with colors, and filled with an array of quaint shops, tapas bars, and cafes. As you stroll through this historic quarter, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, a perfect blend of the old and the new.

Before it became the iconic viewpoint it is today, the Balcón del Mediterráneo, or the Castle Viewpoint, was once the site of a 14th-century castle. The castle, which stood as a protective fortress against pirate invasions, has long since disappeared, but the remnants of its walls still tell the story of Benidorm's rich past. As you walk up the steps towards the Balcón, you can almost feel the echoes of history in the stones beneath your feet.

Reaching the top, you’re greeted by a stunning white marble terrace that seems to jut out into the Mediterranean Sea. The Balcón del Mediterráneo is flanked by elegant balustrades, and at its center stands a grand, white cross, a symbol that adds to the historic feel of the place. But the true star here is the view.

From this vantage point, you’re treated to panoramic views that stretch out over the sparkling blue waters of the Mediterranean. To one side, you can see the bustling Levante Beach, with its golden sands and lively atmosphere. And of course, being in the heart of the old town means you’re never far from some great food. I highly recommend trying some fresh seafood at one of the local restaurants—nothing beats a plate of paella or a serving of calamari after a day of exploring.
